CBP has implemented a new procedure that will lock you out of your trade account in the CTPAT Portal if users do not log in to the CTPAT Portal at least once every 45 days.
CBP announced new security measures for the CTPAT Portal on 2/19/2025. “New security measures will soon be put into place that will automatically deactivate any user that has not logged into their CTPAT Trade Account in the preceding 45 days. Please note, this is a USER deactivation, your ACCOUNT will not be deactivated because of 45 days of inactivity. This is a change mandated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The new procedure applies to all Contacts/Users listed under your Trade Account therefore we recommend passing this information on to all appropriate persons.
Company Officers should be logging into the CTPAT Portal on a regular basis for ongoing maintenance and monitoring. However, to avoid being locked out due to inactivity, we recommend taking a moment to log in today and set a recurring calendar reminder to log into the CTPAT Portal at least once every 40 days. This simple step will help ensure your account remains active and avoids deactivation.
In the event your login has been deactivated, you will not be able to see your company's account in the CTPAT Portal and you will receive a email notification from CBP directing you to reach out to your Supply Chain Security Specialist (SCSS) for reactivation. Your SCSS contact information can be found on the Emergency Contact List.
In addition, we strongly encourage companies to have more than one Company Officer listed on your account. This is particularly important now because if the Company Officer’s account becomes deactivated, there may not be any other users with the required permissions to make certain changes or submit necessary updates in the CTPAT Portal. Having a second Company Officer listed on the account ensures Applications, Annual Reviews and Validation Responses can be submitted on time and/or changes can be made to Users and Addresses. We also recommend adding that second Company Officer today when you log in to avoid any future complications of missing due dates.
